Friday musings on leadership – what makes a great leader? To me it comes down to these 3 questions: How much do people look to you for direction? How deeply do people value your thinking? How supported by you do others feel?
The interesting part comes when you do a self-analysis rating against these qualities. Use a score of rating of 1 to 5, 1=you suck, 5=awesome. Now, find someone who knows you well in a professional setting and ask them to rate you.
Compare the result. Are the comparative ratings high-high, high-low, low-high, or low-low? A clear-eyed analysis will put you on the path to being a better leader.
